Nicholas loves to play in water. He is at that age where he makes a huge mess of it anytime he can. I let him play in the downstairs sink every so often. There is a stool in there so Elsie can reach to wash her hands. The upstairs, however, doesn't have any stools. Nicholas doesn't even come close to reaching the sinks at all. On Monday he was playing upstairs with his brothers and when it was time for Karate I called everyone down and put them in the car.
When we got home Zeke spotted water DRAINING from the smoke detector and the first light fixture in our family room. It was coming out in a steady stream. I ran upstairs and there was a bath towel in the sink and water was cascading over the sink, onto the floor, through the heater vent, and down the drywall. I guess Nicholas stood on the toilet and turned it on. Since there was a towel in the sink nobody could hear it running. We were gone over an hour.
My whole house is torn apart. My room and the family room have extensive damage. The clean up crew came and cut a hole in our family room ceiling to put a dryer in there to try to dry the sub floor out for upstairs. The heater made our house over 100 degrees yesterday and that was with the air conditioning on. We have so many industrial fans in the house that we can't hear anything. There is no place to sit because our family room has all the furniture stacked on top of each other. Everything is dusty, stinky, and out of place. I hate that. I have such a hard time with disarray. We are looking at 3 to 4 weeks of reconstruction. Jackson is getting his tonsils out tomorrow so it was a good week for it.:/ What a mess!
The worst part of it is that there are several rooms in our house that need remodeling. NONE of those rooms were ruined. That would have been too easy, right?
