Upsides: Fishing for the boys; jet ski (thanks Grant); Boating (thanks Darren); lots of clear, blue water; 4 wheeling; tubing behind the boat; soft sand; sand toys; water toys; pop up shades; Jana and Judy's air-conditioned RVs; and no work for anybody.
Downsides: 102 degrees and not a tree in site; freezing cold at night (well, it is the desert); taking 20 minutes just to make a bottle; a baby that hates the wind blowing sand in his face for 16 hours a day; a mommy that is stressed about her kids being in the water for 10 hours a day; not having a place to set the baby down; lots of places for the kids to run off to; sand in everything; SCORPIONS; Swimmers Itch (Risa, Jaren, Andrew, and of course I all have a chicken pock like rash all over our bodies. The good news is you only get it once :( ); a broken jet ski; a broken boat; and, of course, not a second to do any relaxing for me.
Everyone did have a lot of fun. The bad things all seemed to happen the last day. The drive home was terrible and tiring. It is always so much fun to get together with our family though. Next time we are renting an RV and getting tracking devices for the children.
