The Results

Jack had his "swallow study" done today. He did so well. He ate everything they asked him too and was so cute to the nurses, batting those huge eyelashes of his. They covered the food that they gave him in Barium so it would show up on the x-ray. It looked like plain yogurt and tasted like strawberries. They had a live x-ray machine so they could watch him chew and swallow it. It was really cool to see his skeleton chewing and swallowing.
RESULTS: Everything was normal. They didn't even say he had a small esophagus. The Dr. there suggested that he is taking too big of bites and swallowing too fast. I don't know how we will fix that, but at least we know he is ok. I am so relieved.

  1. Hey that's great! I'm glad the study came out well! Just an idea ... but maybe come up with something he can reference when it comes to the size of a bite, like a penny or something, and play a game where he practices taking that small of bityes or chewing 5 times, or whatever. Then every so often be like "show me your bite!" and let him spit out whatever food he has in his mouth into a napkin or something to show you how big it is.

Note: It's 5:30am if this doesn't make any sense I'm sorry. It's just what came into my head and I thought I'd share it. Forgive me for my morning rambelings!

  2. That totally makes sense Hailey, I will try it out today.

That stinks that you have to be up so early. I don't think I could even type at 5:30. :)
